11/19/13  On Sunday, November 17th at 4:19 a.m. the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a one vehicle crash.  The caller said there was a single vehicle rollover collision that had occurred in the 5,000 block of Michigan Road. Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, and LaPaz Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene to assist and investigate the collision.


Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Hollopeter identified the driver of the 2006 Kia passenger car as 20 year old Emmanuel Johnson of Indianapolis. Through his investigation of evidence at the scene and Johnson’s statement to police it was determined that Johnson and the four other occupants in the Kia were traveling south bound on Michigan Road. 

In the 5,000 block of Michigan Road the vehicle traveled off the east side of the roadway striking two mailboxes and rolling over onto its top. The car came to a rest on its top in the middle of Michigan Road. No serious injuries were reported to the police by any of the occupants in the vehicle. 

It was determined that alcohol was a factor of this collision.
The other occupant’s of the vehicle identified 23 year old Nakilee Weni, 19 year old Thomas Boulard, 19 year old Isaias Membreno and a 17 year old juvenile.

Mr. Johnson refused EMS treatment and was taken into custody for illegal consumption of alcohol transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked in on a $255 cash bond.  He was later released Sunday morning and received a January 7th court date to appear in Marshall Superior Court II.

All four passengers of the vehicle were transported to the hospital by the  EMS to be checked out by medical staff.  A report has been sent to the Marshall County Prosecutors Office for review and consideration of charges in reference to Boulard, Membreno and the juvenile for illegal consumption of alcohol a class C Misdemeanor.
