07/16/13  The Marshall County 2013 4-H Fair will host their Annual Bake-A-Rama on Thursday, July 18th.  This contest is open to Marshall County residents.  This year each entry must contain pineapple whether it be fresh, dried, canned but not home canned or preserves.  No mixes or pre-made crusts will be permitted in the contest.  

Entries will be accepted on Thursday, July 18th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon) at the Open Class building.  Winners and prizes will be announced at 6:00 PM and judging will begin at 12:30 PM.

  Along with the Pineapple Bake-A-Rama it’s the 23rd annual Homemade Ice Cream “Crank Off.”  This event will take place on Saturday, July 20th and this year’s featured flavor will be cherry.  This contest will take place in the Open Class Building and will start with check in from 1PM – 2PM beginning at “cranking” starts at 2 PM and must be completed by 3 PM.

All contestants must furnish their own ingredients and equipment including heavy duty extension cord, ice and salt and a container to set freezer in.  Recipes must include real pasteurized dairy products and you will not be permitted to use any home-canned fruits.   Upon completion of preparing the homemade ice   cream contestants will be asked to share their product with contest judges, officials and their immediate family.  The winners and prizes are donated by the Marshall County Dairy Association will be announced following the contest.
