02/28/11 Aaron Parker recently visited Indiana’s Statehouse and volunteered as a legislative page for State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso).

Parker, son of Jason Parker and Debra Pitts, is a student at Walkerton Elementary School;

Students in grades six through 12 are invited to serve as pages, Charbonneau said. Their day includes a tour of the historic Statehouse.

Charbonneau said many pages have never been to the Statehouse before, so this provides an opportunity for them to see an Indiana treasure and learn just how much goes on inside these limestone walls.

Pages also work with their senator and Senate staff, spending time in the Senate Chamber observing the introduction of bills, listening to debates and delivering important messages.

Charbonneau encouraged those interested in additional information for the 2011 session to call 1-800-382-9467.
