PLYMOUTH, IN – Alyssa Clyde, a Plymouth High School senior, recently signed her National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Letter of Intent to continue her playing career as a member of the new women’s soccer program offered at Ancilla College.
Clyde, a defender for the Rockies, under Plymouth High School head coach Stephanie Ferch, was a four year team member of the Plymouth soccer team, earning her four varsity letters and the Most Valuable Player Award for her soccer efforts. The Pilgrims went 3-6-4 during Clyde’s senior season and 1-3-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
“I had the privilege of coaching Alyssa Clyde this past season,” commented Plymouth High School head coach Stephanie Ferch. “She is a will-to-win type of player and always steps on the field with passion and aggressiveness. I am excited about her decision to continue to play soccer at Ancilla College. I believe she will make an immediate impact on the team and be a player that will help build a successful women’s program for Ancilla.”
“Alyssa is a competitive and aggressive player that I see as a member of the back line,” remarked Ancilla College Women’s Soccer Head Coach Justin Crew. “She has a lot of untapped potential and I am excited about what she brings to the table. Alyssa is a great fit for Ancilla and our new program.”
Clyde not only plays soccer, but she also coaches a youth soccer team for first and second graders and helps run a summer soccer program in the local area as well.
Outside of soccer, she has been a member of pep club, varsity club, played basketball for one year and ran track for the Rockies.
When asked why Ancilla was the right choice for her, Clyde replied “I am excited to be a part of the new soccer program, first of all. Also, the nursing program at Ancilla is a great program, and that is something that really interested me.”
Alyssa, daughter of Richard Clyde and Kimberly Gibson plans to major in Nursing while at Ancilla College.
