T.J. Eads had the only RBI in a tough day for offense for Ancilla

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – It was far from fun at the old ball park as Ancilla’s Chargers dropped a pair of games at the Ripken Complex in South Carolina dropping game one to Mohawk Valley Community College by a 10-1 score and falling to College of Southern Maryland by a 2-0 final.

Game one was a one – one tie until the Hawks broke it open with a two run third against Ancilla starter Jason Ferguson (Warsaw High School). Mohawk Valley added three more unearned runs in the fifth and then a four spot in the seventh.

T.J. Eads (Frankton High School) had the only RBI for the Chargers. Clayton Adamson (Tippecanoe Valley High School) doubled.

Game two saw Tommy Snyder (LaPorte High School) pitch his second gem of the week – a two hitter, walking one and striking out three without allowing an earned run – but he was outdueled by Southern Maryland’s Andrew Cyr who tossed a no hitter at Ancilla.

The Hawks scored a pair of runs in the first inning on a pair of Charger errors and had only two other base runners the rest of the day, only one of those got as far as second base.

Ancilla (2-9) will close the week with a Saturday morning contest against Chesapeake College before returning home anticipating the start of the MCCAA regular season a week from now.
