01/13/14 It appears that Marshall County will soon have a new venue for meetings and gatherings as the County Commissioners have cleared the way for the purchase of property currently owned by New Wine Church by the Back Forty.

The church and fellowship hall at New Wine was constructed on land donated to the church with the stipulation that if the property was no longer used for a place of worship that ownership would revert to the county. An appraisal of the property by an independent company found that the property’s commercial value to the county was $1 and with maintenance issues would actually be costly for the county to take over.

The Commissioners by law can now offer the property to the abutting property owner – which in this case is New Wine Church – after proper public notification.
