06/10/10 The Marshall County Church Orchestra performed its first concert of the 2010 spring and summer season Thursday evening, May 27 at Fairfield Garden Court in Plymouth.  With Memorial Day just around the corner, the orchestra performed a patriotic concert to pay tribute to our country and our military personnel, both past and present.

Under the direction of Don Harness the M.C. Church Orchestra opened the concert with the Star Spangled Banner.  With narrative provided by orchestra member Cindy Flagg the concert continued with patriotic favorites such as “Yankee Doodle Dandy”, “This Is My Country”, and “America the Beautiful”.  They also played several early hymns of the church including “Amazing Grace”, “God Of Our Fathers”, and “A Mighty Fortress”.  The highlight of the concert was their rousing rendition of “Stars and Strips Forever”.  A crowd favorite was “The Medley of Armed Forces” in which veterans were asked to stand and be recognized for their service to our country.  The concert closed with the orchestra playing and the crowd singing “God Bless America”.  Residents of Fairfield Garden Court served refreshments to the guests and orchestra members in attendance.
