03/02/12 Zentis Food Solutions North America was granted a Tax Abatement by the Plymouth Common Council this week.

During the public hearing, Jennifer Laurent, Executive Director of the Marshall County Economic Development Commission said, “This is an auspicious project and the growth trajectory is that Zentis will fill up the building they have.”  She explained that they are growing business in other directions and with new technology they will create new products.  Laurent commented on the fruit compote that is currently made locally and goes into many of the fruit yogurts we find in our local groceries.

Laurent said, “Zentis intends to be in Plymouth long term.”  She explained the competition for this project with their facility in Germany and how the State of Indiana will provide payroll incentives for the project to locate in Plymouth.

The proposed project includes a $4.5 million capital investment with two new production and cooking lines and the creation of 25 new jobs by the end of the year. The guidelines designate with the amount of investment a 2-year abatement on real property and a 10 tax abatement on the personal property.
