CULVER — The Culver Academies have named their athletes of the month for November

From CGA:

Megan McKay

During the month of November as a defenseman for the CGA Prep Hockey team, Megan averaged over one point per game and scored a power-play goal in five consecutive games. An integral part of the team, she plays on not only the power play but also the penalty kill and even situations, combining to an average of 18 minutes of play per game. Having made good use of her ice time in 19 games played, she has already surpassed her season points total from the entire 2018-19 campaign.

“Megan isn’t only pushing herself on the ice,” said head coach Cory Whitaker. “She leads in the classroom, and according to Dr. Carrillo she is a ‘shining example of the bridge between academics and athletics.’ She holds herself to a very high standard; I believe that Megan has a championship mindset and wants to be the best in everything that she does,” he added.

From CMA:

Timofey Spitserov

In the month of November, Timofey averaged a goal a game against some of the top tier one U-18 teams in the country, resulting in a team-leading 13 goals and 7 assists. Less noticeable but equally important as his scoring acumen, is the tenacity that is on display when he is causing turn-overs and earning possessions back for his team.

“Every practice and every game Timofey, A.K.A The Sniper, is ready to compete and wants to win,” said head coach Steve Palmer. “He loves to score top shelf where grandma keeps the cookies, and he also always prepared and willing to help others every opportunity he has,” he added.
