In the championship game the host school, Ben Franklin, used their size to dominate the short-handed Red Storm by a score of 56-23. The 8th grade is now 8-3 on the year and will travel to New Prairie on Tuesday.
The Lincoln 7th Grade Boys Basketball A Team hit the road for a four-team tournament in Valparaiso on Saturday morning, coming away with an impressive 1-1 split.  This year’s team has struggled so far but had two very competitive, possibly season-changing games.

In the first game of the day, the Red Storm defeated the Rensselaer Bombers 38-24.  This was a game of two halves, with the first featuring a crazy, up-and-down pace that allowed Lincoln to hold a 25-24 lead heading into the break.  In the second half, the Red Storm got after it on defense and shut out the Bombers for the entire second half.  David Schadek and Colin Chupp led the way for Lincoln with 13 points each.
In the championship game, the Red Storm faced off with the mighty Ben Franklin Vikings, the host school of the tournament.  While this game didn’t start off very well for the Red Storm, the boys didn’t give up and once again put on a resilient second half performance, outscoring their opponent by 5 points in a gritty, never give up second half.  The host Vikings prevailed by a score of 48-32 but Lincoln’s resolve won the day.  David Schadek once again led the Red Storm with 10 points.  The team heads into next week’s matchup against New Prairie with a record of 4-9 on the season.
