County News_logoJason Peters presented the Marshall County Commissioners with the 2016 Road Program during their meeting Monday morning.

The Plan indicates the roads the county will grind this year, those that they are planning to put back to chip and seal and a few roads which he would like to double chip and seal this year and the roads they will prep this year for work next year.

Also included in the plan are materials needed to complete the work.

Peters said he has some other roads being checked for the match money that will be available from the state.  He’s contacted 4 different companies to look at the roads and present costs estimates. He estimated this 17 miles of road work to cost $2 million.

The County HIghway Road Superintendent said the estimated cost for the total road program this year is $3,694,013.  That money would pay for 10.5 miles of paving, 56 miles of chip seal, 8 miles of double chip seal and 13.25 miles of roadways to grind with an additional 13 miles of roads to work on with wedging and spot paving in September through November getting them ready for paving in 2017.

Commissioner Kevin Overmyer said the dollar for dollar match has been increased from $500,000 up to $1 million.

The Marshall County Commissioner adopted the 2016 Road Plan pending funding.  The Road Program will now be to the County Council at their meeting on Monday.
