FIre_5th Road_0Firefighters from three department responded to a structure fire on 5th Road Tuesday afternoon at 12:53.

FIre_5th Road_3LaPaz and Polk Township fire departments were dispatched to a house fire at 13560 5th Road after a passer-by called 911 and telling the dispatcher they saw smoke coming from the brick home.    LaPaz Fire immediately asked for a full response of mutual aid from the Plymouth Fire Department who arrived on the scene first.

FIre_5th Road_1Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller said the fire was contained to a back bedroom and with no one home at the time firefighters had to break into the residence to fight the blaze.

FIre_5th Road_4LaPaz Fire Chief Chris Oginsky investigated the fire and has determined the cause to be electrical in nature.  He said damage was contained to the bedroom and its contents although the whole house had smoke damage.

Fire_5th Road_fanThe LaPaz fire department was on the scene for a few hours mopping up hot spots during the investigation.

The home belongs to James and Mary Husband.

Fire_5th Road_2No injuries were reported although the family did lose a pet in the fire.
