The Plymouth boys will travel to Goshen while the Plymouth girls will host when the IHSAA 3A soccer sectional tournaments open next week.

The pairings for the 30th Annual IHSAA Boys and Girls Soccer State Tournaments were drawn with 305 boys teams and 274 girls teams, both record numbers, set for competition next week.

The 274 girls teams top the previous high of 272 set last year and in 2019. The 305 boys teams equal last year’s record number.

Both tournaments mirror each other beginning with 16 sectionals in each of three classes running Oct. 2-7. Regional semifinals will be played Oct. 11-12 with regional championships on Oct. 14. Semi-States are Saturday, Oct. 21 at four sites with the winners advancing to the state championship matches on Oct. 27-28 at Michael Carroll Stadium at IUPUI in Indianapolis. Assignments will be made following the semi-state matches.

Plymouth will be in the 3A boys seven-team sectional field at Goshen with an opening round match against Northridge. The Rockies (5-8-1) just lost to Northridge (11-1-2) on Saturday, 6-1.

The winner of the Plymouth – Northridge matchup will play the winner of East Noble – Elkhart.

The other opening round matchup has Mishawaka playing Concord with the winner to play Goshen in a semifinal. Goshen received the bye.

Meanwhile, Plymouth will host a five-team field in the girls 3A tournament. Plymouth (2-11-1) will play Elkhart (3-5-3) in the sectional’s opening match. Concord received the bye and will play the winner of the Plymouth – Elkhart matchup.

Goshen will play Northridge for a berth directly to the championship game.
