The first week of October 2022 promises to be a monumental event in Plymouth, IN as The REES Theatre continues plans for its grand reopening celebration – REES FOR THE STARS.
The celebration begins on Saturday, October 1 with dinner on the street, the dedication of not only the theatre but also the Bob Pickell Performing Arts Stage, and a performance by Denver Bierman and the Mile High Orchestra.
On Tuesday, October 4, Whiskey, Wisdom, and Trivial Tidbits will bring a handful of the founders to the REES stage to relate the trials and tribulations of the remodeling, what choices were made and why as well as some very interesting trivial tidbits about the origins of the building, the owners throughout the years and treasures found during the process. No clues will be given ahead of time; patrons will just have to come and hear for themselves. Many facts from its history were derived from assistance and research at the Marshall County Historical Museum which will also feature a running exhibit – Marshall County at the Movies. This open display will portray the history of all theaters in Marshall County past and present.
Co-chair Randy Danielson has a long history with The Rees dating back to the 19th century. No, he’s not THAT old, but he certainly has stories. Jack Davis, Denny Bottorff, and other members of The REES’ original “Dirty Dozen” will join on stage for this over 21 experience. Danielson stated, “There may also be experiences shared and questions asked by the audience that supports the many reasons this Community decided to embrace this restoration and continue the legacy of The REES.”
Online ticket sales will be announced this summer and available at www.reestheatre.com
