Bremen second at Concord
DUNLAP — Bremen boys tennis team finished runner up at the eight-team Concord Invitational
The Lions defeated Valparaiso 5-0 in their first match of the day. Winning for Bremen were Mariano DeLeon, Carson Miller, Mark Bahr, Shay Kyser, Camden Hickman, Dawson Hickman, and Mason Porter
Bremen beat host Concord 3-2 in round two of the tournament. The Lions were behind 2-0 after completion of the first two matches. They then came roaring back as Dawson Hickman posted a win, the doubles team of Mariano DeLeon and Camden Hickman won an exciting third-set tiebreaker to even the score, and then Mark Bahr won the match at #1 singles to complete the semifinal victory.
In the finals, Penn downed the Lions 4-1 in a well-played close match. Winning for Bremen were Mason Porter and Shay Kyser.
The other participating schools were Adams Central, Mishawaka Marian, Lake Central, and 2019 state finalists Westview.
Bremen next plays in the NIC tourney on Monday and Tuesday at Leeper Park in South Bend.
