The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety opened vehicle bids for three departments during their meeting last week.
The City Street Department received quotes from three vendors: Wiers International Trucks and Oliver Ford Lincoln. Wiers quotes a 2021 International CV515 cab and chassis for $49,521. They offered $2,000 in trade value for a Ford F150 making the bottom line $47,521.
Oliver Ford quoted a 2020 Ford F250 4×4 super cab for $32,556. The trade-in for this quote was $500 for a 1989 van. The net price would be $32,056. Oliver also quoted a 2020 Ford F450 4×2 chassis cab for $45,315 and a trade in of $5,000 bringing the final quote in at $40,315.
County Auto provided a quote for a 2020 Ram 2500 crew cab, 4×4, short bed truck for $32,698. The 89 van trade-in was $500 bring the total quote to $32,198. County also quoted a Ram 4500 for $43,231.
Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt asked to have the quotes taken under advisement. He will make his recommendation at the next city meeting.
Mike Collins from the Cemetery Department also had a vehicle in his budget for 2020. He wants to replace a 1990 dump truck. The only quote was from McCormick Motors in Nappanee. The base quote was $43,390 for the cab. McCormick included a $3,841.61 customer discount and a trade-in of $500. The bottom line was $41,048.39. The new bed for the truck would be $9,530. The Cemetery Superintendent asked to move forward with the approval as-long-as the quote met specifications.
Police Chief Dave Bacon wants to purchase three new vehicles and trading-in one. Oliver Ford Lincoln quoted a 2020 Police Interceptor for $32,985 each. The offered a trade-in of $4,000 for a 2012 Dodge making the bottom line $94,955.
County Auto bid three Dodge Durango pursuit rated SUVs at $29,369 each and $4,000 for the trade-in. The bottom line would be $84,007.
Chief Bacon asked to have bids taken under advisement with his recommendation coming at the next city meeting.
