Culver Special Olympics open house 2019Students at the Culver Academies will host a Special Olympics open house this weekend.

The vision of the students is to draw in new families and athletes by providing information regarding the Special Olympics organization.  Senior, Caroline Perea said, “There is a lot of hard work behind the Marshall Stark Special Olympics Program and we want to help build up participation, fundraising and community outreach through our event.”

The Open House will include students speak about the impact and background of the Special Olympics by providing perspectives from different athletes and family members with special needs. Additionally, they will be offering athletic clinic’s and volunteer sign-ups hosted by Culver students.

While the athletic clinics will be offered on a different date, the Culver Academy students want to offer the Special Olympians the opportunity to have practice before their competitions.  Clinics will be for basketball, corn hole, bocce ball, cheerleading, fitness, softball and track and field.

The event on Sunday begins at 1 and should be complete by 3.  It will be held in the Steinbrenner Gymnasium near the Chapel.

 

The event with be filled with fun activities, games, and snacks.

Perea said, “Our students are thrilled to spend some quality time with the athletes.”
