Rockies fall to Central
PLYMOUTH – Plymouth Rockie Soccer hosted Elkhart Central for the last time Thursday night at Don Kindt Soccerplex. Next year Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial merge together to form Elkhart High School. The Rockies are scheduled to face Elkhart High School next year in a non-conference soccer game at Elkhart.
The Rockies played hard but fell in their meeting with Elkhart Central 3-2.
The Rockies opened the scoring two minutes into the contest as Selvin Paguada was able to get the ball into the back of the net.
It only took the Blue Blazers two more minutes to tie the score at one a piece. Central would go on and get two more goals before half to make the score 3-1 at halftime in favor of the visiting team.
The Rockies came out in the second half with a great mind set. They play hard keeping Elkhart Central off the board the entire 40 minutes of the second half. But the Rockies were only able to get one more goal with 12 minutes remaining in the contest. Osbaldo Contreras got one to drop to make the score 3-2.
But that was as close as the Rockies could get as they dropped the hard fought non-conference match to the Blue Blazers.
The loss drops the Rockies to 4-7-2 on the year. The Rockies host NLC foe Northridge on Saturday. JV kickoff is set for 11:00 AM.
The JV Rockies and Elkhart Central battled to a 0-0 tie Thursday night. The tie moves their record to 5-3-4 on the year.
