PHS_BloodDrive_2Because you cared, lives will be saved!  The South Bend Medical Foundation thanked Mayor Mark Senter for hosting a blood drive at the Farmers’ Market last Saturday and the citizens who gave blood.

Mary Ankrapp Supervisor Blood Donor Recruitment said, “The support and compassion the Mayor’s office demonstrates is outstanding.  We are always deeply touched by the overwhelming generosity from your blood donors.  We couldn’t provide this life saving gift without our partners.  As you many know we often face blood shortages in the summer months.  Your drive will be so helpful in providing a new lease on life for so many.  Thank you for doing such a wonderful job organizing the drive.  We appreciate your help in providing this community service to the Plymouth community.”

Results of the blood drive were 42 units or blood collected and only 1 deferral.

One unit of blood can save the lives of up to 3 people; a total of 126 people could potentially benefit from your drive.

Ankrapp said, “Wow, what an amazing impact your drive will have on patients.  The blood collected will go to help recipients suffering from cancer, trauma, blood disorders, surgery, pregnancy complications, or several other medical emergencies.”
