This year the State of Indiana will conduct municipal elections. Are you registered to vote? If you want to have your say in the primary election, you must register in the next day or two.
Hoosiers must register by April 8th to be able to vote in the May 7th primary election and on the Plymouth Community School Corporation referendum. In Marshall County Bremen, Bourbon, Culver and Plymouth will go to the polls on May 7th to cast votes for mayor, clerk, city council, and town council.
Citizens can register to vote online by using the Indiana Voters app or by visiting IndianaVoters.com by midnight on Monday, April 8th or they can submit an application to register in person at the Marshall County Clerk’s Office in the Court House by 4 p.m. on Monday.
The Indiana Voters app also allows Hoosiers to confirm their voter registration, look up their polling place, get driving directions to their polling location, find out who’s on their ballot, track their absentee ballot application or provisional ballot information and contact local election officials.
In order to be eligible to register to vote, you must: be a citizen of the United States, be at least 18 years old on the day of the next general, municipal, or special election, have lived in your precinct for at least 30 days and not currently be in prison.
Indiana Secretary of State, Connie Lawson said in a recent press release, “I encourage all Hoosiers to exercise their right to vote. Voting is one of our most precious rights as Americans – it’s how we make sure our voices are heard in government.”
