Mishler_2013State Senator Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) gathered with fellow legislators Tuesday at the Statehouse for Organization Day — the ceremonial start of the 121st Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day is made up of the swearing in of new and returning General Assembly members as well as the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also allows each Senate and House of Representatives caucus to organize before session officially reconvenes Jan. 3.

The 2019 session is a budget year, meaning lawmakers will craft a comprehensive plan to fund government services for the next two years. By law, the 2019 legislative session must be completed by April 29.

“As chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, I will spend much of the session focusing on Indiana’s next two-year budget,” Mishler said. “This is a big responsibility that I take very seriously, and I will work with my colleagues to ensure Indiana’s next budget funds our priorities while living within our means.”

As the 2019 session begins, Mishler encourages residents of Senate District 9 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have by email at Senator.Mishler@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467
