CPR Device_1Members of the Plymouth Fire Department, Culver EMS, Walkerton EMS and Emergency Room employees from Saint Joseph Health System in Plymouth have been training on a new CPR device.

The Lifeline ARM Automated Chest Compression device performs mechanical chest compressions. During operation, the software driven, motor controlled device provides chest compression at a consistent depth and rate ensuring CPR efficacy.

In an emergency situation, the Lifeline ARM provides extended CPR with minimal interruptions when fatigue, insufficient personnel, or patient transport may prohibit the delivery of effective and consistent compressions to the victim.

CPR Device_2The new mechanical CPR equipment was purchased with funds from this year’s Hospital Gala.  The Plymouth Fire Department has three of the devices and Culver and Walkerson EMS each received two so each of the ambulances will have a device on board.  The Emergency Room at Saint Joseph Hospital in Plymouth also received one.

Brandon Cooper who worked on acquiring the devices for the emergency services said, “We are blessed to have this awesome technology!  I can imagine it won’t take long before it is making an impact and changing the outcomes!”  Cooper is a firefighter/advanced EMT for the Plymouth Fire Department and the EMS Coordinator for Saint Joseph Hospital in Plymouth.

CPR Device_3The devices are made right here in the USA and cost approximately $10,000 each.
