County BuildingMembers of the Marshall County Council will have a busy day Monday as they begin to handle the 2019 budget request as well as their regular monthly meeting agenda items.

The meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. include Kathy Clark , Executive Director of the Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Council who is requesting levy funding for the Lake Max Wetland Conservation Area.

Next up is Doug Masterson from the County’s Building and Grounds.  He will present a change in the personnel request for next year and Commissioner Kurt Garner will talk about the Historic Preservation Fund grant he wants to apply for to cover some engineering cost to make improvements to the Court House tower.

Council members will consider transfers and additional requests as well as an amendment to the Salary Ordinance for the Supervisor of the County Highway as well as a change for probation officers with years of experience.

After all that….it’s time to start making the $800,000 to $900,000 cuts to the 2019 budget requests.  Last week members conducted a three hour work session where they made their suggestions on where to cut the budget.  Many of those suggested making cuts to the request for 9 new employees.  During the work session only recommendation were discussed no official action was taken, that’s what will be happening on Monday.

The County Council meeting is open to the public and is expected to last several hours.  The meeting is held in the second floor meeting room of the County Building.
