communitycrossingsThe deadline to submit applications for the Community Crossings grant process is Friday, September 28th and Marshall County Highway Supervisor Jason Peters told the County Commissioners he is nearly ready to submit.

Last month Peters gave the commissioners a listing of projects he felt were in-line with the grant requirements.  He asked the commissioners to prioritize them for the grant application.

The projects that made the list for the grant include Dogwood Road from the county line to U.S. 6, Dogwood Road from State Road 331 to U.S.6, North Michigan Road from the Plymouth city limits north to the roundabout and 11th Road from South Michigan Road to U.S. 31.

The county is hoping to receive the whole $1 million grant which will require a 25% local match.  The state will review each project to determine its need and effect on the economic status.  If the county is not successful and only receives a portion, they can apply again in the spring for the remaining amount to meet the $1 million max.

Peters told the commissioner he has forwarded the Bridge Asset Management Plan to L-TAP (Local Technical Assistance Program).  MACOG (Michiana Area Council of Governments) will review the entire grant proposal before it is send to INDOT for consideration for the Community Crossings grant.
