MugShot_Joshua MurrayA LaPorte man is behind bars after Marshall County Police conduct a welfare check and find 9 children in a residence where drugs were in plain view.

Just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 7th the Marshall County Sheriff Department was dispatched to check the welfare of a mother and her five children. 

When officers arrived at the residence in the 4500 block of Olive Road they found 28 year old Joshua Murray along with 9 children, ages ranging in age from three months to nine years in the residence. 

In plain view officers observed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription pills where numerous children were sleeping.

Murray was arrested for Neglect of Dependent, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription and Possession of Paraphernalia.   His cash bond has been set at $5000 cash.

The Marshall County Sheriff Department was assisted by the Division of Family and Children.
