Pack-A-Backpack_4With the month of August beginning, children enrolled in the schools in Marshall County will be headed back to the classroom next week.  That means parents are shelling out money for books, shoes and school clothes making it difficult for some families to purchase the needed school supplies and backpacks for the new school year.

Plymouth FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) Lodge 195 will conduct their annual Pack-A-Backpack collection this Saturday, August 4th at Walmart on Oak Drive.

This year the FOP is NOT seeking backpacks, they have enough for each school, but there are specific items they will be collecting including: dry erase markers, wide-lined loose-leaf notebook paper, glue sticks, skinny markers, accordion and regular folders, 24 packs of crayons and earbuds and headphones.

Pack-A-Backpack_1The public is encouraged to assist with the collection by donating items this Saturday at Walmart from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m.  You may purchase school supplies at Walmart or any other store and drop them off on Saturday.  If Saturday is not convenient for you, you may drop off items at the WTCA Studios, 112 West Washington Street in downtown Plymouth.  WTCA will be open during normal business hours this week and next to collect school supplies.

Lets all join together and send the kids in our county off to school with their needed school supplies and a brand new backpack.

School start dates:

The first day of class for students in the Argos Community Schools, Culver Community Schools and Triton School Corporation will start on Tuesday, August 7th.  Students in the Bremen Public Schools, Union North United/LaVille Schools and Plymouth Community Schools will start class on Wednesday, August 8th.
