County news # 2Monday morning County Highway Supervisor Jason Peters presented the Commissioners with an update on the progress of the 2018 Road Program.

As of July 16th, county employees have completed 3.5 miles of paving, 23.5 miles of double chip and seal and 17.2 miles of single chip and seal.

44.4 miles have been completed this paving season with 25.75 more to be completed. Peters said they plan to do 11.5 more miles of chip and seal, 6 miles of double chip and seal and 9.25 miles of paving.

The highway supervisor said he plans to approach the County Council next month seeking additional funding to do 10 more miles of chip and seal.

Peters presented fund balances for the commissioner’s information.  In the Motor Vehicle Highway fund there is still $103,365 for stone and $80 for bituminous.  In Local Roads and Streets there is no money in the stone line item and $178,634 for bituminous.

Commissioner Overmyer said, “I think the guys and the crew are doing a good job out there on these roads.  Peters responded, “The guys have done a great job this year!”
