On Tuesday, January 16th, incumbent Bill Githens filed for re-election as Marshall County Councilman for District 2.  Bill and the County Council have successfully provided Marshall County residents with a balanced budget the past three years, and in January’s council meeting approved transferring $1.5 million from the County’s General Fund to the County’s Rainy Day Fund as a reserve for future unanticipated emergency expenses.  Bill states that Marshall County is in a strong financial position as a result of excellent fiscal responsibility by the council and the county’s many departments.

Prior to Bill Githens serving on the County Council, he was a member of the Union Township Advisory Board, and later, a member of the Culver Town Council.  In addition, he currently serves on the Board of the Union Township Library Board, the board of the Culver Boys and Girls Club, the board of the Culver Club and is treasurer of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver.  He is a graduate of both the Culver Military Academy and Texas Christian University where he majored in Economics and Finance.
