County News_logoSupervisor of Marshall County Highways, Jason Peters presented the commissioner with his 2018 Road Plan during their meeting Monday.

Peters said the plan is a proposal for next year but until funding and the winter weather are determined a final plan can’t be detailed.

The plan calls for spot paving, paving, chip and sealing and double chip seal projects along with crack sealing.  Nearly 22 miles are planned to be paved including Oak Crest, Forest Hills and Nutmeg subdivisions.  Estimated cost is $912,240.

13 ½ miles of double chip seal roads are on the 2018 plan at an estimated cost of $283,500 and just over 41 miles of chip and seal at a cost of $536,250 along with $5,000 for crack sealing.  Projected total cost estimate is $1,736,990.

When asked if there was a listing for roads to be ground next year Peters said he would wait and see what kind of winter we have.  He did expect there would be a few roads they would grind.

This year the county has spend approximately $1.3 million on the 2017 Road Plan.  The projection for next year is a shade under $2 million including Community Crossings Grant money.
