Local NewsMonday morning Marshall County Surveyor Craig Cultice told members of the county drainage board that the Indiana Department of Natural Resources has given certification approval for the construction of a new pedestrian bridge to be constructed over the Yellow River.

The new structure in River Park Square will be approximately 300 feet upstream from the South Michigan Street crossing and will be a continuous 90 feet span bridge with no piers in the river.  The approach to the trail will be elevated a maximum of 2 feet above the existing grade.  Along with the bridge, bank stabilization along both banks will occur.

This   project is part of the Plymouth Park Department’s Greenway Trail and will include an 8 foot by 104 feet concrete walkway splitting to a 6 foot wide stairwell and a 6 foot wide handicap accessible ramp totaling 100 feet in length from the canoe launch to the parking lot.  Two additional paved offshoots of the main trail will include 6 foot wide by 180 feet long trail, and a 6 foot wide by 75 feet trail that ends at a trail node.  The node will have two benches.
