PLYMOUTH – The Lady Charger volleyball team defeated Morton College in their first home game of the season, 3-1.
After a loss in game one 25-18, the Lady Chargers fought back to overcome Morton 25-22, 25-10, and 25-13.
Sophomore Makai Gingerich contributed with an impressive 26 assists and four kills. Newcomer Bailey Storey handed out 12 kills and two aces. Sophomore Darian Mowery helped out with 10 kills, and Freshman Trisha Moser performed well with 16 assists.
This win was especially important to Coach Jordan Weitzell, as this was her first collegiate win as a head coach.
“We started our first game off a little rough, but once we got the nerves out of our system we started to play our caliber of volleyball,” she said. “We still have a few things to work on in practices but I’m proud of the effort the girls showed in games 2, 3, and 4.”
The Lady Chargers take on Lake Michigan College on Wednesday at Benton Harbor. Set one starts at 6:30 p.m.
