The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office announced today the arrest of James A. Irwin, 68 years of age, of Plymouth.  The arrest occurred shortly before noon on August 23, 2017 at Irwin’s home on Charles Street.

Based upon facts alleged in a probable cause affidavit submitted to Judge Robert O. Bowen of Marshall Superior Court No. 1, probable cause for Irwin’s arrest on five counts was approved:  Count I: Dealing in Schedule I, II, or III controlled substances, Level 6 felony; Count II: Dealing a substance represented to be controlled substances, Level 6 felony; Count III: Promoting Prostitution, Level 5 felony;  Count IV: Patronizing a Prostitute, Class A misdemeanor; and Count V: Patronizing a Prostitute, Class A misdemeanor.   Judge Bowen set bond at $60,000 cash.

The probable cause affidavit, which is now a public document, refers to multiple encounters between Mr. Irwin and various cooperating sources.  Additional charges are being considered by the Prosecutor’s Office.  In addition, the Prosecutor’s Office asks if members of the public may have additional information about this case or related matters to please contact (574) 936-0234.

Leading the investigation is the Marshall County Drug Task Force.  Assisting in the operation was the Indiana State Police, Bremen Police Department, Plymouth Police Department and the Marshall County Police Department.

An initial appearance before Judge Bowen has yet to be set.
