Varsity A State (85 of 322) (1280x1002)The Culver Military Varsity A hockey team won the Class 4A state hockey title Saturday night. The Eagles beat Fort Wayne Carroll, 6-2, at the Ice Box in South Bend for its 25th state title overall. It is Varsity A’s first state title since winning four straight in 2011-2014.

Varsity B fell short in its bid to win its second state title, falling to Bishop Noll, 3-1, in the Class A championship game earlier in the day.

Varsity A was paced by the goalie play of Miles Jones, with the goals being scored by Kam Etchison, Geogiy Kozak (2), Gavin Fritch, and Matthew Regan (2). The Eagles broke the game open in the third period, scoring four goals while holding Carroll scoreless. Two of CMA goals were short-handed.
