PORT HURTON, MI – The Charger Men’s Basketball Team finished their season as the NJCAA District 9 Runner-Up after a tough loss to Grand Rapids Community College, 81-70, in the final round of the NJCAA District 9 Tournament in Port Huron, MI on Saturday.

Leading for Ancilla was sophomore Gary Bonds with 20 points, while Dylan Phair had 16, Andrew Jones had 14 and Franklyn Felix had 10.

Receiving All-Tournament Team Honors was Dylan Phair and Gary Bonds. Anderson McCoy, Jair Rodgers, and Dylan Phair were named to All-Western Conference 2nd Team and Gary Bonds was named to the All-Western Conference 3rd Team. Earning Honorable Mention All-Western Conference was Andrew Jones and Don’Tayon Young and Jair Rodgers was named to the Western Conference All-Freshman Team. Anderson McCoy was also named to the Western Conference All Defense Team. Freshman Jair Rodgers also broke the Ancilla Men’s Basketball Career Record for the three point shots made. The record before was 103 and he is currently at 109.

“Ending a season is always difficult,” said Head Coach Aaron Butcher. “The guys we have on this team make it even more difficult. What these sophomore have done for Ancilla Basketball is something that can’t be measured. This team has been an absolute joy to coach. The five guys that leave are prepared and will be successful wherever they go and for whatever route they choose to go in life. We are excited for what we have returning and the guys we have signed for next year. The future of Ancilla Basketball is very bright.”

The runner-up finish wraps up the season for Ancilla with a 26-6 record with the sophomore ending their careers 46-16.
