With a deadline of August 1st, the project includes new bleachers, press box, concession stand, restrooms and ticket booths.

On Tuesday Tyree said he believes the majority of the work will be complete but the contractor will not meet the deadline with odd and ends to finish up. He believes the contractor will have to pay the daily penalty until work is complete.

A couple of items the superintendent pointed out, the old bleachers would seat 1700 while the new ones will seat 2500. There is handicap seating along the front and the steps up the bleachers are “half steps” making is much easier to climb to the top. He also said the bleacher crew will be in next week to clean the bleachers and then they will install the bleacher jersey.

The new restroom facility is much larger and will be heated during the colder football and band season. Tyree said the concession stand has a larger prep and cooking area with two covered seating areas and a large uncovered area next to the bleachers. He said naming rights for the concession stand have been paid for by the Weirs family.

School is also adding speakers on the guest side of the field so the sound won’t have to be pushed across the field.

The first home game is Friday, August 19th against Bremen.
