Girls basketball shootout at The Zone

You will want to mark Saturday June 18 on your calendars as The Zone’s Varsity Girls Basketball Summer Shootout will be taking place and will feature one of the best high school players in the country.

Gary West High School and highly touted point guard Dana Evans will be playing at The Zone.

Evans, who is one of the favorites to win Indiana’s coveted Miss Basketball Award in 2017, is the seventh-ranked girls basketball recruit in the country by ESPN and second among point guards. She has a slew of scholarship offers, but on Friday narrowed her choices to Purdue, IU, Baylor, DePaul, Louisville, Marquette, Oklahoma State, UCLA and West Virginia.
Joining Evans’ Gary West team in The Zone’s Varsity Girls Basketball Summer Shootout will be Culver Academy, John Glenn, Knox, Kouts, Lewis Cass, Lacrosse, Logansport, North Judson, South Bend Adams and South Central.

There still is time for teams to register for the event. Teams have untilMay 18 to register and can do so online at The Zone’s website – thezonesportscomplex.org.
