DONALDSON, IN – Ancilla finished a season sweep in Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference action against Glen Oaks with two wins over the visiting Vikings by scores of 9-1 and 5-4.

 

Game one was decided quickly as Ancilla (13-15, 8-6 MCCAA) exerted its will early with seven runs in the first three innings. An RBI double by Brittany Probasco, an RBI double by Brooke Stout, and an error during the first inning and an RBI single by Morgan Lippens, a two-run double by Stout, and an RBI single by Melia Gonzalez in the second inning helped Ancilla College put some runs on the board early to open up with a 7-0 lead. Abbey Renner’s six strikeouts helped lead Ancilla to the victory. Renner allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over five innings. Game totals saw Stout racked up three RBI on two hits, Lippens finished with three hits, Probasco and Renner had two hits each, while Probasco earned two RBI.

 

In game two, Probasco remained hot from the plate. She was 3-4 with singles in the third and fourth and a double in the sixth. She also drove in one. Lauren Prohl got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed four runs over 6 1/3 innings. Prohl struck out five, walked none and gave up 10 hits. Renner picked up the final two outs in the circle to earn her first save of the year. Allena McElfresh and Prohl finished the game with two hits each.

 

The Chargers swept the Vikings earlier in the season to finish their season series with a 4-0 record.

 

Ancilla hits the road on Thursday, April 21 to take on NJCAA #11 Muskegon Community College. They will then travel to MCCAA West leader Lansing Community College on Friday before finishing their week at home on Saturday against NJCAA #10 Kellogg Community College. Thursday and Friday’s games are at 3:00 p.m.Saturday’s game will start at 1:00 p.m.
