Holy Cross League – Tournament
Last evening at John Young Middle School both the 7th and 8th Grade teams competed in the league ending single elimination tournament. The 7th grade took onEdwardsburg in the 1st round game and were victorious. The Pilgrims dominated most of the game and held the lead throughout. The 2nd round game was against the #1 seed, Niles. The game was exactly as we expected, very physical and competitive. Plymouth came out and took a commanding lead, but Niles fought back and the game went into overtime. Unfortunately the 7th grades tournament ended sooner than we had hoped as we ended up loosing by 1 point.
The 8th grade team competed against Buchanan in their first round and every player contributed in the 12 point victory. The second round game was versus the #1 seed,Stephensville. The Pilgrims were able to limit the touches that their two best players had and used tough Plymouth defense to hold their opponent to 23 total points. We ended up winning the game by 1 point and led us to the championship game. In that final game we played against Corpus Christ who had just upset the Argos Dragons in their previous game. There were at least 6 or 7 times in this game that the score was tied up, but Plymouth was never able to get over the hump and take a lead. The 8th grades tournament ended as Corpus Christy won the game by 1 point.
