INDIANA-SUPREME-COURT-JUSTICES-2015The Indiana Supreme Court annual report (July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015) is now available online and at the Law Library in the State House. The 58-page report provides information about the work of the Court and its affiliated agencies. In addition to providing statistics on the nearly 1000 cases considered by the Court, the report also details the administrative work of the judicial branch. Read the report at courts.in.gov/supreme/files/1415report.pdf.The five justices—Loretta Rush, Brent Dickson, Robert Rucker, Steven David and Mark Massa—heard oral arguments in 62 cases and handed down 100 majority opinions after reading thousands of pages of briefs. Nearly 78% of the time, Court opinions were unanimous.

A variety of Supreme Court agency initiatives are detailed in the report. It also includes photographs of judicial branch leaders interacting with students, community members, judges and the press.

By the end of the fiscal year:

  • 396 tweets about court opinions and other announcements could be found at Twitter.com/incourts
  • 225 courts in 52 counties maintained records in the Odyssey case management system
  • 224 hours of instruction were provided to judges statewide
  • Data was collected in 1.3 million trial court cases
  • 569 of 821 applicants passed the Indiana bar exam
  • 1,022 registered mediators were in the statewide registry
  • 103 final orders were issued in attorney discipline cases
  • 22 judges faced disciplinary action from the Judicial Qualifications Commission
