KOKOMO – The Plymouth girls golf team competed in the Western Invitational at Chippendale golf club in Kokomo on Saturday. Playing alongside #2 Wesfield and a top 5 team from Ohio our ladies held up well finishing 11th out of 21 teams.

Leading the way for the Pilgrims was senior Randi Dunn who fired a 90.  Senior Morgan Oberley and Junior Lauren Kolter both carded 94’s. Senior Katie McDonald worked a 103, junior Katie Johnson 109.
Today’s event was a showcase of the states best talent. 5 Indiana ranked teams and one elite program from Ohio. The team from Kent in our pairing had family connections to the Chippendale owners and have played in the event each of the last several seasons.  Last season they we’re ranked #1 in Ohio and finished second in the event, today they finished 3rd.
“I was proud of our girls improvement on the greens today.  We spent a decent amount of preparation on putting and it showed today.  The number of 3 putts was better and our pace and judgement of lines was also improved,” said Plymouth coach Ben Weymouth. “Today’s track was a test of shot making and distance control, something we’ve yet to truly face this season.  Tight fairways and trees proved a challenge in spots.  We have plenty to work on heading into non-conference matches next week.”
The ladies are back in action Monday at PCC versus Bremen.
