DONALDSON, INDIANA – The Ancilla College softball team dropped both games of a double header to Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference second place Kalamazoo Valley Community College by scores of 12-1 and 3-0.
Ancilla gave up three unearned runs to start off the day in the first inning of game one. They gave up four more unearned runs in the seventh. In between the visiting Cougars picked up two in the fifth and three in the sixth. The Chargers were held to just four hits in each game. Their only run of the day was scored by Morgan Peoni when back-to-back doubles by Peoni and Brittany Probasco in the sixth inning of game one led to their lone tally.
“Game one slipped away due to poor defense,” said Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “We were in game two the entire way, but were unable to get key hits when we needed them.”
In the second game, the Chargers left runners in scoring position in four of the seven innings. KVCC scored one in the second and two insurance runs in the seventh to earn the victory.
Ancilla (16-21, 9-15) hosts Grand Rapids Community College (12-26, 11-17 MCCAA) tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. with Sophomore Day activities starting around 12:30 p.m.
