ADA, MI – The Charger men’s golf team placed eighth of nine at the Grand Rapids Community College Invitational on Monday.

 

The invitational was hosted at the Egypt Valley Country Club, a par 72 course that stretches 6786 yards.

 

The Chargers finished with a team score of 370, 82 over par. Grand Rapids Community College led the invitational with a 313.

 

Sophomore, Spencer Mortola led the way for Ancilla by shooting an 82, eight shots back of medalist Kurt Sprauge from Grand Rapids Community College. Rounding out the scores for Ancilla were Zarek Finley who shot an 87 tying for 34thand Jack Leland who tied for 42nd with a 90.

 

“I was proud of our guys playing through tough conditions,” remarked Ancilla golf coach Marc Green. “Zarek Finley played very consistently today. While we did not finish as well as any of us wanted, there were some positives to take away from today.”

 

Ancilla will be on the road Friday, in Battle Creek, MI for the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference First and Second Rounds. Start time is set for 9:00a.m.
