A two vehicle accident occurred Wednesday evening on State Road 17 when traffic was slowing for emergency vehicles responding to an incident on the county’s west side.
77 year old Alberta Huff of Plymouth was traveling east on State Road 17 just east of Carriage Drive in a 2007 Kia, following a 2009 Chevy driven by 63 year old Joseph Holtrop of Burbank, IL. Traffic started to slow when west bound emergency vehicles passed with their lights and sirens.
Huff told County Officer Rob Hafke she was slowing and did not realize that the vehicle in front of her had stopped. She was unable to avoid the collision and rear ended the Chevy.
Neither driver was injured in the accident but a passenger in Holtrop’s vehicles, 58 year old Mary Holtrop of Plymouth complained of pain and was immobilized and back-boarded. She was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
