AKRON, IN – Tippecanoe Valley High School senior Kaira Hackworth, daughter of Lora Hackworth, recently signed her Letter of Intent to cheer at Ancilla College for the 2015 season.

Hackworth was a high school football sideline and basketball sideline cheerleader for three years. She spent two years on the varsity cheerleading team where she was a backspot for the Vikings. During her cheerleading career, she earned the best backspot award and the booster club award for being a role model through cheerleading. She also received the chance to cheer the halftime performance for the Harlem Globe Trotters with her team.

Outside of cheerleading, Hackworth earned her varsity letter for being the Viking varsity swim team’s manager. She also served as the varsity baseball manager and was a part of 4-H, earning her 7th and 8th year awards.

Community service has been a large part of Hackworth’s high school extracurricular activities. She has participated in various events including; Toys for Tots, Valentines for Veterans, Christmas cards for elders, Help a Neighbor Day and Our Father’s House.

“I really like Ancilla,” said Hackworth. “It’s perfect because it’s a two year college and it has small class sizes. Also everyone seems to be very nice.”

“Kaira is going to be a wonderful contribution to the Charger cheer team,” commented Ancilla College head cheer coach Kaylee King. “She brings with her strong backspotting skills and a wonderful work ethic. I believe that she will be a great asset to our program and I am excited to welcome her to the Charger cheer family.”

While at Ancilla, Hackworth plans to work towards her degree in health sciences on her way to a career in ultrasound technology.
