Bob Nagle_AwardA fixture on Michiana sports scene for 38 years, Bob Nagle of WHME TV‐46 in South Bend was presented the 2014‐15 Distinguished Media Service Award for District 1 during Friday evening’s Pilgrims boys basketball game against Goshen.

The Mishawaka native currently is sports marketing director at Lesea Broadcasting and WHME‐TV. He serves as the voice of Notre Dame women’s basketball and also works with Notre Dame baseball.   He’s worked on both the television and radio side as sports director at WSBT where his career began during the 1977‐78 school year. He’s covered multiple area high school teams that made runs to Indianapolis including some of the most memorable like Plymouth’s 1982 boys basketball state championship, Penn’s first football title in 1983 and Warsaw’s 1984 boys basketball crown. He was later part of broadcast teams with the IHSAA state championship television network from 1997 to 2005 and was a 2010 inductee into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. Nagle is a graduate of Marian High School in Mishawaka and earned a degree from Indiana University‐South Bend.

This is the 30th year the IHSAA has recognized outstanding members of the Indiana news media from each of its three legislative districts for excellence in the coverage of high school sports. District 1 covers 22 counties across northern Indiana. Nagle is the third of three individuals to be honored this school year joining Steve Moritz of Hoosier AM/FM Radio Group in Marion and Bryan Helvie of the Batesville Herald‐Tribune.
