DONALDSON – It took some overtime on opening day but Ancilla’s Chargers were able to salvage a split with visiting Henry Ford Community College falling in game one 10-0 but taking a 1-0 nine inning win in game two.

Offense was a problem all day for the Chargers who could manage just two hits in the opener, one each from Jason Ferguson (Warsaw High School) and Kainen Lewis (Louisville Male High School). Ancilla starter Clayton Adamson (Tippecanoe Valley High School) left the game in the fifth having scattered three hits and giving up one earned run. Henry Ford broke the game open in the top of the seventh plating seven runs off three different Ancilla pitchers.

Game two starter Tom Snyder (LaPorte High School) has now put together a string of 20 consecutive scoreless innings taking a nine inning 1-0 win over Henry Ford in the nighcap. Snyder walked just one and gave up four hits in going the distance. Earlier in the week Snyder had a complete game shutout at Indiana Tech. It’s Snyder’s third win of the season and his fourth complete game in five starts.

The Chargers plated the games only run in the bottom of the ninth when Marvin Montgomery (Avon High School) drew a bases loaded walk. Lewis, Jalon Linville (Louisville Male High School) and Shay Hepler had the Chargers only hits in the game.
