MYRTLE BEACH, SC – It was a tough day at the ballpark for Ancilla’s Chargers as they continued their run of games at the Ripken Complex in South Carolina dropping a pair of tough 2-1 decisions – game one to Mohawk Valley Community College of Utica, New York and the second to Camden Community College of Camden, New Jersey.

Clayton Adamson (Tippecanoe Valley High School) was the hard luck loser in game number one going the distance and scattering four hits. A two run second inning was all the Hawks could muster against Adamson.

The top of the Ancilla order supplied all the pop offensively with Kainen Lewis (Louisville Male High School) and Shay Hepler (Warsaw High School) banging out three hits each.

In game two Evan Vangordon (Blackford High School) went five and a third innings scattering five hits and giving up just one earned run but still took the loss in his first start of the new season. Jason Ferguson (Warsaw High School) had two thirds of an inning of perfect relief.

The Chargers were able to bang out six hits but Lewis’ single to score Hadeen Williams (North White High School) was the only Ancilla run. Adamson collected a double in the game.

“We had great pitching all day long,” said Ancilla head coach Joe Yonto. “It’s too bad we wasted it. You can’t leave runners on base the way we did and win many games.”

Ancilla now moves to 1-5 on the season with games Thursday against the College of Southern Maryland and Garrett Community College also from Maryland.
