MENTONE – The Riverside Rockets played in the Tippy Valley Invitational this past weekend and came away with a championship for the A team and runner up for the B team.

Riverside took a 48-33 in over Wabash in the title game coming out of the locker room with a 9-0 run and never looked back on the way to the win. Brady Hatfield gave the Rockets some momentum during a Wabash run with a big three point shot with a foul committed on the play as well. Trey Galloway lead the Rockets with 27 points with Grant Houin and Kendall Himes helping with 8 points each.

The team advanced with a win over host Tippy Valley in the first round 43-27. Trey Galloway lead all scorers with 12 points with Brady Hissong pouring 10 and Dane Funston with 8.

The A team finished the year 12-0.

The B team also played Tippy Valley in the opening round and coming out with a win in overtime beating the Vikings 30-29. The Rockets were lead by Zephan Nixon with 8 points followed by Hugh Smith with 7 and Joesph Styers with 3.

The Rockets then faced the Wabash team for the B team championship. The Rockets scored early with taking a 8-0 lead going into the second quarter. Two quarters of not scoring hurt the Riverside and they came up short with losing 30-16. The Rockets were lead by again Zephan Nixon with 8 points, Hugh Smith with 6 and Joesph Styers with 2 points.

The B team finished the year 8-3.
