09/23/13 The entries for the 25th Annual Regional Juried Art Show at Heartland Artists Gallery have resulted in Heartland having to expand their facilities. Art work will be shown at the Gallery at 103 W. LaPorte plus we will be expanding into the Old Bank building at the southwest corner of Michigan and LaPorte.
Heartland has received over 200 entries from Artists in the tri-state area (Indiana, Michigan and Illinois). The entries have run the gambit from Oils, Acrylics, pastels, jewelry, gourds and sculptures to mention only a few.
Heartland Artists Gallery has been in existence since 1980 and has worked with the artists of our area – both experienced and want-to-bes. They offer monthly exhibits where both new and promising artists are highlighted. Additionally every month we feature our member of the month. In March we do a special presentation of the work of the students in Plymouth. Currently we are exhibiting the incredible work of the Friendship Quilters. Classes are offered at Heartland in various aspects of art.
For the Annual Art show artists can submit up to 6 pieces of work. The work is delivered to Heartland where our Judge, Casey Lard, a well known artist and instructor from South Bend, will select the best and most interesting artwork to be displayed at the Gallery from October 1st through November 1st.
The community is invited to a special Open House on Sunday, October 6th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Heartland Artists Gallery at 103 W. LaPorte Street. This is always a fun-filled afternoon as the majority of the artists who are displaying their work will be there and we can discuss their work and the choices they made in their work.
During this show Heartland will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and for this exhibit only will be open on Sunday from noon until 5:00 pm. For further information please call Heartland at (574) 936-9195.
Last year’s best in show was won by Ms. Gerrie Govert of Crown Point with her painting Four Faces.
