05/15/12 The 88th Annual Plymouth Chamber of Commerce dinner was held at Swan Lake on Thursday evening May 10th.  The Chamber’s theme was “Embracing the Past, Moving Towards the Future” and they honored all living past Chamber presidents.

Award recipients for 2012 were announced as follows:  Ambassador of the Year, Tammy Boys; Walter A. Glaub Business of the year, Miller’s Senior Living Community.

Person of the Year went to Jackie Wright from the Marshall County Council on Aging.

Jackie Wright was the recipient for Person of The Year, nominated of her working life to the Senior Community.  Jackie started working at Millers Merry Manor in the kitchen at age 15 and then moved to their Activities Director.

Then on January 1st 1987 she was hired as the Council on Aging Executive Director,  and has been instrumental in bringing public transportation to any Marshall  county resident, now with 8 vehicles provided 2,164, trips including 1,057 public transportation trips and the recent addition of the Plymouth Community Cab.

In 2003 The Life Enrichment Center was opened and it is now home to MC Council on Aging and many other agencies and clubs.

Wrights’s vision for the agency includes assisting all seniors to maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle. She believes the more engaged a person is the longer, healthier and happier his or her life will be. To this end, Marshall County Council on Aging offers needed services throughout the county such as transportation, Meals on Wheels, but they also offer a lot for active seniors and the general public

In addition to her duties at the Council on Aging,  Jackie found time to serve on the Chamber of Commerce Board for 7 years  and is an active member of Rotary.
